The picture depicts the Petrovichev family and home of the artist who came from a farming background. It considerably adds to what is known about the early creative period of the artist, of whom only very few works remain. The comparable picture Drinking Tea in the Farm House (1898) is housed in the art museum in Rostov by the river Wolga.
