Provenance: Collector’s mark Nathaniel Hone (Lugt 2793); private collection, Italy. <br<br />According to Prof. Bernhard Schnackenburg the drawing is related to the style of Jan Lievens, but may derive from an unknown pupil of his and may have been executed ca. 1629. Prof. Schnackenburg will include this drawing in his monograph of Jan Lievens. Friend and rival of the young Rembrandt, which is in preparation.
