The present engraving comes from the splendid five volume edition of Francesco Terzio‘s “ Imagines Gentis Austriacae”, which was comissioned by Archduke Ferdinand II and includes several portrait engravings of members of the House of Austria. The complete edition comprised 74 engraved portraits on 58 sheets with princes, their spouses, near relatives and real and legendary ancestors of the House of Habsburg. Each volume included a coherent and consistent series of portraits, which was each regardless of a chronological order dedicated to a particular prince of the House of Habsburg The present print is one of the extremely rare engravings of this edition in an excellent condition.
