This painting is typical of the Florence-trained artist’s oeuvre. He predominantly painted vedute with a clear romantic touch, although executed in 18th century style. The present lot shows the Piazza Trinita and the Via Tornabuoni. Across from the Basilica Santa Trinita we see the Colonna della Giustizia in front of the Palazzo Spini Feroni. This square was already depicted in 1744 by Giuseppe Zocchi (Florence 1711–1767) in his “Scelta di XXIV vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese e palazzi della città di Firenze”.
