Bad Rohitsch-Sauerbrunn in Lower Styria (today Rogaska Slatina in Slovenia) was a popular spa with numerous mineral springs. The actor Alexander Girardi had his debut there in a play by Nestroy in the summer theater of the town in 1869; J.N. Passini executed a series of tinted lithographs with views of Rohitsch-Sauerbrunn which the artist executed in 1855/56 partly after the present studies. These works excell in a very sympathetic connection of architecture and its surrounding landscape. Passini is mentioning the villa Jankomir and the mountains Janina and Triestine hill in the legends.
