The Good Samaritan,

Ursula Härting, whom we thank for her assistance, has suggested a possible connection between the present painting and works by the Antwerp painter Michiel Gast (Antwerp circa 1515 - after 1575), who was active in Rome. For comparison, she refers to Gast’s painting of the Disciples at Emmaus at the Centraal Museum, Utrecht (see Fiamminghi a Roma, exhibition catalogue, Brussels 1995, pp. 196/97, no. 95).
