The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate submitted with this vehicle indicates that the Jaguar E-Type was delivered as a left-hand drive to J.L. Long from Atlanta, a major in the U.S. Air Force stationed in London, England, on 7 February 1969. The consignor purchased the coupé in 2005 and brought it to Austria. The E-Type was completely dismantled and elaborately restored between 2005 and 2008. The engine, gearbox, front and rear axles were refurbished. The engine mount was renewed with high-tensile ST42 tubes made by hightensile hochfesten Renolds. The body was restored and the front bonnet replaced. There are photographs documenting the work, while invoices confirm the investment. The expenses outstrip its current value by far. Three carburettors feed the engine, optimised by electronic ignition, aluminium swingarm and VA racing header exhaust pipes. An oil cooler and two fans maintain the right temperature. A long rear axle converts the power into a matching top speed, while internally ventilated disc brakes at the front keep it insistently in check. This put an end to the technical weaknesses. Perforated aluminium rims in D-Type style provide suitable visual highlights. The interior was completely renewed in modern Bordeaux. The leather seats, panelling and sunroof are as inviting as ever. A modern Becker Mexico Classic radio with CD changer and navigator connect with the modern world. The consignor has driven the Cat around 40,000 km since its restoration. The Jaguar proved its smoothness and safety on trips to Italy and Spain. What’s more, the consignor provides assurance that the coupé is waterproof, yet another special benefit. Before being submitted for auction, the Cat was taken for an oil change and lubrication, and new tyres were fitted as well. Overall, it is an E-Type in exceptional condition – expensively restored by the consignor, driven carefully and improved for ten years. The buyer can look forward to a fantastic and absolutely roadworthy vehicle with exceptional power and handling that is entirely compatible with everyday use.
