We are grateful to Prof. Fabrizio Magani for kindly confirming the authenticity on the basis of the original.
The present composition has been recreated several times by Zanin. He has produced about 40 works with this subject matter, numbering each one. The number 14, written on a label attached to the stretcher, could be one of them. He copied a popular composition by Bernardo Bellotto depicting the Scuola Grande di San Marco with the Rio dei Mandicanti that is now in the Accademia, Venice.
