porcelain, large conical body with gold rim, the exterior with wide and narrow gilt edging, pastose gold painted leaf borders with light blue arches, exquisite painted light blue and blue leaves with branches of berries and gold wave décor, bright gold painted rhomb frieze with flower buds and dots on matte gold band, the base of the body with bright gold painted arched frieze with leaf festoons and branches of berries on Leithner’s blue ground, decoration paintedwith Leithner’s gold, gold pointed handles with console terminals, height 4.7 cm, diameter 13.3 cm, supplemented saucer with very similar decoration and gold rosette
Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, underglaze blue barred shield, dated 1799, 1801, Sorgenthal era, turner no. 22 Ferdinand Zillich 1797–1838, no. 39 Ferdinand Ebenberger 1783–1804 (Ru)

Wilhelm Mrazek, Waltraud Neuwirth, Wiener Porzellan 1718-1864, MAK Vienna, 1970, p. 42: Leithner Josef 1770-1829 at the manufactory, studied at the Vienna Academy, from 1770 flower painter, no. 48, from 1785-1787 head painter at the manufactory, after 1797 arcanist. Inventor of the colour "Leithnerblau" in 1792, "Leithnergold" in 1793, recipient of a gold medal ("goldene Medaille mit Öhr und Band") on 30.12.1812. He celebrated his 54th year of service on 2.8.1834, and took over the stewardship from the factory management on 25.9.1829. He retired in 1829.
