Ettore Roesler Franzr attended lectures on architecture at the Accademia di San Luca. From 1864 to 1872 he was secretary of the Bristish Consul in Rome, by which he got in contact with various wellknown landscape painters. In 1875 he turned exclusively to painting. His interest applied to his native town Rome, where he produced sketches and photographs, which he used for his watercolours. Inthese pictures he tried to suppress the current changes of the town and rather concentrated on the village character of it. Roeslers watercolours were exhibited in Berlin, Paris, Munich, Stuttgart and Dresden.
