“I am surprised that I can still look at the sky [...]. Life can be palpated with the fingers. It appears to the eyes, it offers itself to the senses [...]. I bequeath to young painters all the flowers in the fields, the banks of the streams, the black and white clouds that pass over the plains, the rivers, the forests and the great trees, the hills, the roads, the small villages that winter covers with snow, all the meadows with their magnificent flowers and also the birds and butterflies.”
