Private Collection Italy.
The present work seems to be inspired by Antonio Joli (c. 1700-77) in its acute topographical observation and bold Italianate colour. Joli painted a similar view of the Thames and the City of London from Towergate at Somerset House shortly after arriving in London in 1745.
