1949 Wurlitzer 1100
With the model 1100 the era of chief designer Paul Full (1897-1951) came to an end at Wurlitzer. At the same time, it saw the introduction of Zenith’s Cobra tone arm. It was cheaper in maintenance and put less wear on the records.
The 1100 was the last Wurlitzer with a selection of only 24 shellac records that I could play from one side. Within its two years of production more than 25,000 jukeboxes were made. In the same year, though, Seeburg set a new bench mark in the jukebox world, that would change market shares for the years to come: the first jukebox that could play 50 vinyl records on both sides and therefore offered a selection of 100 songs.
This example has visibly been restored and converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in beautiful cosmetical condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
