1954 Wurlitzer 1700 F
In addition to the many entry level models Wurlitzer offered a new high-end model for 1954, the 1700. It came with a novelty, that allowed a selection of 104 songs: the carousel. The 52 records were now arranged vertically and circularly. The carousel would become the centerpiece of Wurlitzer mechanics for years to come, but also designwise the new models had arrived in „jet age“, straight and fully loaded with chrome.
Together with the 1700 came the 1700 F, with the capital letter standing for High Fidelity, which was also written in large letter on the front glass. Better speakers with condensators and a better amplifier made sure the sound lived up to what it promised.
Wurlitzer engaged in a huge marketing campaign to promote the new model. And it did in fact become a success with sales of the both Wurlitzer 1700 together getting close to the 10,000 German Marks.
This example has been converted to 220V in the past and still presents itself in very good, cosmetically largely unrestored condition. However, we have not tried if it works and therefore it will be strictly sold as is, without any guarantee for functionality.
