"Auf der Koburgbastei" (On Coburg-Bastion), indistinctly titled, signed J. Gerstmeyer, oil on cardboard, diameter 8 cm, framed, damaged, (Hu)
A bastion with this name never existed in Vienna. It was rather the so-called „Braunbastei“ which was there from 1531 to 1863; it had a gate at whose access from the town Coburg palace was built. In the course of the bastions dismantling in 1863 a street was laid out below it and given a name which sounds curious as it is a mixture of the name of the owner of the palace and the archiepiscopal bastion.
