The cathedral of Como was the last one Gothic cathedrals to be built in Lombardy. Construction works began in 1396 approximately ten years after the laying of cornerstones for the cathedral in Milan. It lasted approximately three and a half centuries. During the long time of the construction period several architectural styles were incorporated in the church. The styles of late Gothic and early Renaissance are dominating the building. Lorenzo degli Spazzi and Pietro da Breggia where the cathedral’s most significant architects.
