Porsche increased the displacement and performance of its 911 again for the 1972 model year. Once again they offered the T, E and S – the last letter is the one that makes the difference, because there was the 911 and the S, nothing more at the end of 1971 – 190 HP from 2.4-litres of displacement! It was only in this year that the oil tank was located on the back right, on the fender, the oil cap. This made for confusion at the gas station and full workshops at Porsche, which is why they changed the position back after only one year, making it hard for someone to put gas in the oil tank by mistake.

This beautiful 911 S coupé is an early example of the 2.4-litre top model, built in November 1971. Its owner, born in 1941, was an Italian with exquisite taste in cars. The Porsche shared a garage with a contemporary Targa and a rocket from Maranello. The owner had no male offspring, so he bequeathed the Porsche to his Austrian nephew in 2005. It is evident from looking at the 911 that the owners took care of their treasure. The paint has been redone and the interior has been renewed; generally sports cars with 45 years of life experience look much different than this one. A few years after registration in Austria, the nephew had the car undergo a complete service package for the engine, clutch and gearbox. Now this 911 is waiting for the new owner, and it could hardly be any better: the numbers match, the colour fits, the condition is great. Help yourself!
