Carlo Grubacs - Buy or sell works

1802, Venice (Italy) - 1878, Venice (Italy)

The Grubacs name is closely associated with views of Venice, especially of the Grand Canal. The eighteenth-century tradition of veduta painting was carried on by artists such as Carlo Grubacs and his sons Giovanni and Marco, all of whom remained faithful to their predecessors Canaletto and Guardi. From 1818 onwards, Carlo Grubacs studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice with Teodoro Matteini, whose main interest was the depiction of historical themes and seascapes. These subjects are occasionally found in Grubacs’s work. His mostly small-format works are executed with great precision, placing great emphasis on the meticulous reproduction of details.
