Hans Salcher - Buy or sell works

Hans Salcher is a contemporary Austrian painter and author. Hallmarks of his work include expressive, minimalist images on paper.
Born in Lienz in 1956 as the son of a miner, his images focus on the motto “less is more”: the artist’s work uses just a few brushstrokes on handmade paper. In addition to black, Salcher only uses the following colours in his images: yellow, red, blue and green. The door to his studio on Lienz’s Mühlgasse street is always open for interested visitors. The artist is well known thanks to his collaborations with Red Bull and Servus TV: he has been responsible for various image campaigns run by the broadcaster. In addition to painting, Salcher also writes plays and volumes of poetry, which he also illustrates with brush drawings. The topics of his work primarily revolve around the Tyrol and the people living there. In addition to this, he adapts his images to suit the season in question: in winter he focuses on painting skiers, and switches to flowers in spring. Shaped by his unhappy childhood, his works aim to put the viewer in a good mood and offer some comfort. He is not interested in descriptive, circuitous padding: Salcher’s work concentrates solely on the essential elements. As a close observer of his surroundings, Salcher brings his personal perception to paper in a pointed manner, thereby transmitting the messages and stories of his homeland in a radically simplified form.
The artist’s works have been sold successfully at Dorotheum auctions for years. On 19 June 2017, an image of a couple reached a price of € 2,250 at a Modern and Contemporary Art auction.
