With written confirmation of provenance by Mirek Ambroz, curator of the exhibition, “Viennaer Secession and Modernism 1900–1915“, Exhibition Halls of the Municipal House, Prague 2005.
Provenance: From the interior of the “Poldi-Hütte” in Kladno/Tschechien. The dining table ensemble and the ceiling lamp from the Poldi-Hütte guesthouse can be found in the collection of the Musee d’Orsay in Paris. Karl Wittgenstein, father of Ludwig Wittgenstein, was one of the most successful steel industrialists from the late Danube monarchy. Together with his wife Leopoldine, he was a generous patron of contemporary art. He named his crucible steel factory AG in Kladno “Poldi-Hütte “ after his wife. The interior design of the “Poldi-Hütte” guesthouse was commissioned to Josef Hoffmann and manufactured by J. & J. Kohn.
