In 1965 Rolls-Royce introduced a Coupé version of its Silver Shadow called Two-Door Saloon, which was renamed Corniche in 1971. It had a lower roofline and a much more refined styling. While the Convertible was built well into the 1990s, the Coupé was discontinued in 1982, therefore only 1.090 of these elegant Two-Door Saloons were built, compared to more than three times as many Dropheads.

This Corniche Two-Door Saloon was delivered new through Austrian distributor Erwin Janko to a company in Traiskirchen, south of Vienna. It is one of the very last European Two-Doors produced and probably the last one delivered to Austria. Already in 1994 the current owner bought the car, which he had known since when it was still with its first owner. He had the car repainted and used it regularly, often for holiday trips to southern shores. Through the past years the Corniche has seen less and less use and today, while still registered, it will need a little more than just a small service. But special as it has always been, this beautiful Coupé, a rare left-hand driven European export version, more than deserves to be brought back to its former glory!
