A “Knieschwimmer” (“Knee Swimmer”) armchair, - Design

used by Adolf Loos from 1906 onwards, manufactured by Vereinigte U. P. Werke, Bohemia, solid walnut and walnut veneer, original upholstery, covered with ochre velvet (the covering replaced), height 91 cm, width 83 cm, depth 114 cm, height of seat 38 cm. (DRAX)

A model featuring straight legs, comparable to the “Knee Swimmers” owned by the Neue Galerie in New York und the Decorative Arts Museum in Brno, Czech Republic. Compared to the English variant with curved legs, which was later produced by F. O. Schmidt, this version features a more austere form.
