At the beginning of the 1960s my artistic discourse drew inspiration mainly from ‘Comics’.
For about a decade, I worked under the influence of that technique, painting a series of two-dimensional pictures, until the moment when I realised that I could turn them into sculptures, by using a wooden framework that was able to ‘absorb’ those very images into a three-dimensional work: I called them ‘The Columns’.
