A rare settee, Gebrüder Thonet,
Vienna, c. 1858, beech, strip glazing, polished solid bentwood frame, laminated bentwood seat ring, the seat and backrest covered with woven cane, height 94 cm, width 137 cm, depth 49.5 cm, height of seat 46 cm. (DRAX)
A unique specimen.
This model is the precursor of a settee marketed as Model No. 3 in 1859, which was later renamed into Model No. 5. The present item differs from the series-produced models in details, primarily by its larger width.
