We are grateful to Laurens Schoemaker of the RKD, The Hague, for suggesting the rare landscapist J. Op 't Wat. The painting is registered at the RKD database under no. 1001171000. A work comparable to the present painting was sold at Kinsky Auktionen in Vienna on 21 April 2010 as lot 61.
