(Vienna 1862–1918)

The picture, commissioned in 1887, represents the interior of the now demolished Altes Burgtheater building on Michaelerplatz. It was there that the last theatrical performance took place on 12 October 1888. There is a heliogravure of this image, with an accompanying explanatory sheet, at the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna. The explanatory sheet gives the name of the sitter. Nebehay 1962 mentions repetitions of this portrait, which are, however, now probably lost.
