We are grateful to Jan de Maere who confirmed this to be a painting by Pieter Lisaert IV. on the basis of a photograph.
A variant of this composition, of nearly identical format, came up for auction on 9th December 1996 by Tajan, Paris, as Lot 26. Pieter Lisaert IV. is part of a prominent family of Antwerp painters. In 1615, he was accepted as a master of the Antwerp Guild of St Luke. He depicted mainly religious subjects and also worked as an art dealer.
