Provenance:
Private collection, Italy
Born in Udine Getulio Alviani took part in all the Nouvelle Tendence events and endeavored over following decades to promote Kinetic Art, also with critics and curators, deeply convinced of its nature as “investigation” and its social function and bitterly opposed to its commercial exploitation. Alviani made his debut in the late 50’s with his Superfici a testura vibratile and Linee luce of milled aluminum, responsive to the changing directions of light and suitable for mass production. While sculpture remained his primary areas of work, this was often combined with painting, the creation of textiles and jewelry for designers, and environments using optical phenomena as cognitive tools, like Interrelazione speculare curva (1967) an environment covered in curved mirror surfaces that generate endless reflections of the spectator.
