The artist first studied at the Academy in Karlsruhe, and later at the Munich Academy under Wilhelm Diez. He preferred landscapes with scenes of children which were often reproduced in journals. Emil Keyser exhibited in 1883 and 1889 at the Munich Glaspalast. Three of his works are held by the Collection of Luitpold, Prince Regent of Bavaria.
