(b. in Geneva in 1961)
Jackson & Patrick, 1996, a unique piece, base: wood and acrylic / shoes: leather, 70 x 54 x 86 cm, (PP)
Provenance:
Private Collection, Austria
In naming her work Jackson and Patrick, 1996, the artist refers to Jackson Pollock’s drip paintings and to London shoe designer Patrick Cox, whom she puts on an equal footing in the title. For her drip painting, Fleury used real Chanel nail polish and lipstick colours from 1996. Patrick Cox was inspired by Piet Mondrian for his 1995 shoe collection. It is typical of Sylvie Fleury’s coolness that the latter is not mentioned in the title.
