We are grateful to David R. Marshall for confirming the authenticity of this work on the basis of a photograph. He dates the present painting to the artist’s early period around 1670. The composition is somewhat unusual and the large square with the tower are new motifs, but noticeably reflect Niccolò Codazzi’s architectural style.
