Caterina Gori possibly belonged to the Florentine family of artists led by Agnolo Gori. Little is known of the artist’s life and work. The present works display the influence of Giovanna Garzoni (1600-1670), who had documented dealings with the Medici family and was commissioned by Cardinal Giovanni to paint a series of still lifes of flowers, currently preserved at the Uffizi. The present paintings combine a naturalistic interest in the depiction of flowers with a decorative style.
