Austria, 2003, stainless steel, photographs transferred to compact boards, a variable installation consisting of ten modules, height each 46 cm, 40 x 40 cm. (DR)
The project comprised altogether 80 different modules. The starting point for the “Edifice” project were scientific documentary materials of seeds, small leaves, and blossoms from one of the last unexplored rainforests in Central America. The artists selected photographs from the vast amount of material. They were separated into individual elements on the computer and subsequently transferred to light blue compact boards. What resulted were minimalist modules that could be used as wall elements, but also as functional pieces of furniture (tables or stools). Users are invited to interact and thereby appropriate the images: within the exciting sphere of autonomous and processual art, Krüger & Pardeller juxtaposed real life with the idea of its digital animation.
