The painting is dated ‘1649’ and it bears the original inscription, according to which the sitter was made a baron and later a count by Emperor Leopold I. He was also was appointed chamberlain of the electorate of Bavaria, privy councillor and chief superintendant at Ultendorf, ‘assessor’ to the exchequer at Burghausen for the Royal Cathedral Chapter at Passau. One of his daughters, Catharina Franziska Countess of Aham, was a lady-in-waiting at the Bavarian court.
Provenance: Viennese aristocratic ownership.
