sale, Dorotheum, Vienna, 30 March 2000, lot 233 (as circle of Pieter Lastman);
Private collection, Vienna

The present painting is listed in the RKD database under no. 62026. Jan Kosten from the RKD was the first to connect the work with the oeuvre of Melchior de la Mars. This artist was one of the first so-called ‘Ghent Caravaggisti’, alongside Gerard Seghers and Theodoor van Loon.
