A scene from the Russian campaign, the combat near Biala on 18th October 1812 between the Grand Army and the Russian troops, titled "Gefecht bey Biala, den 18. October 1812" on the old and trimmed mount and inscribed "Ritterkreuz des Militär Maria Theresien Ordens für Oberst Theodor Gf. Baillet de Latour" (knight’s cross of the Order of Maria Theresa for Colonel Count Baillet de Latour) on the support, watercolour on paper, laid down on cardboard support, 40, 3 x 50 cm, framed, damaged (scratches next to the centre at lower left), (Hu)
The scene shows Graf Baillet de Latour (1780-1848) and his engagement in the combat near Biala Podlaska, on 18th Oktober 1812, and he ("eroberte einige feindliche Geschütze") took several cannons of the enemy (according to an Austrian combat report), for which he received the medal of the Military Order of Maria Theresa.
