Literature:

In 1960s Accardi became increasingly interested in the arrangement of sign and colour in daring and innovative combinations.
Her painting adopted a radically new approach with works on a new support, no longer canvas but transparent Sicofoil, and in the new relationship with the environment.
The new works define their space as authentic habitats in which the gaze and light move through the constituent pictorial elements. The Artist brings two components already present in her work in to a close relationship: on the one hand painting that is free in terms of compositional expression through sign and gesture, on the other, reference to the geometric rationality present in the orthogonal structure of the exposed wooden support. The masterly attainment of balance between these two elements proves to be the precise goal of the pursuit of harmony and beauty as aesthetic fulfilment
