Two fireside armchairs, variant of a design by Adolf Loos, c. 1930 - Design

(made in collaboration with Heinrich Kulka), manufactured by Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Vienna, solid wooden frame on four legs, the loose seat cushions covered with dark-brown textile fabric, butt leather backrest with decorative studs, each height approx. 72 cm, width approx. 63 cm, depth approx. 60 cm, height of seat approx. 40 cm. Adolf Loos used variants of this model for the apartment of Josef Vogl in Plzen, Czechia, for the Villa Müller in Prague (1928), and for the Khuner Country House in Payerbach, Lower Austria (1930). Various models of this chair are listed in the Friedrich Otto Schmidt archives under SREN 52.
