Windmills and Ukranian farmhouses were frequent themes in Aivazovsky’s work from the 1850s to his late creative period. There are corresponding examples in galleries including the Picture Gallery in Feodosiya, in the Crimea, and in the Tretjakov Gallery in Moscow.
