The present drawing is presumably a Ricordo after a painting „The Birth of the Virgin“ by Trevisani, which was executed for the main altar in the church S. Cristina in Bolsena (Viterbo) between 1722-1726. A Bozetto for the painting is supposed to have been existant in the collection of cardinal Ottoboni; a smaller version on copper which is probaly a copy of a pupil is preserved in the Galleria Doria-Pamphilj in Rome. The church was considerably damaged in WW II; today the painting is in one of the side chapels of the church.
