By 1885 at the latest Franz Roubaud had become one of the artists shown at the permanent exhibition at Munich’s Galerie Wimmer. The work here bears the characteristic traits of Roubaud’s early creative period. During this time the young artist was still searching for his primary theme whilst painting a variety of subjects, including scenes of life in the Russian province.
The work will be included in the catalogue raisonné currently being compiled by E. Lingenauber and O. Sugrobova-Roth.
