The Japanese colour woodcut offered here is based on a watercolour of the same name from 1961. The transmission of this very freely painted depiction, defined more by colour than by line, draws on a very complex process for creating the woodcut. Nakamura (jr.), who printed the "Kleinen Palast der Krankheit", prepared around 20 plates. The intricate colouration results in an extraordinary piece.
