Around the turn of the Century, Verburgh must have undertaken a journey to South America, since his rare views of Surinam date from this period. His populated river landscapes painted from an elevated vantage point are more common. Thomas Heeremans (Haarlem 1640–1697) Dutch canal scenery with numerous figures in boats delighting in the public entertainment of „goose pulling“, signed and dated at lower right THMans 16.., oil on panel, 62 x 85 cm, framed, With the copy of a certificate issued by Walther Bernt (1971) on the reverse.
