(Amsterdam 1744 - Haarlem 1831) Still-life with grapes, peaches, a pineapple and flowers on two stone ledges and in a basket, signed lower left, “W Hend- Rik Pinxit”, oil on panel, 66 x 53 cm, framed

Certificate: written communication from the Director of the Teyler Museum in Haarlem dated 27 October 2000, with the information that this is an autograph work by the artist. Wijbrand Hendriks was himself the director of a museum which held a collection of his works. The entry in the dictionary of artists, Thieme Becker reads: “His painting style is fine and well-mannered, the colour is cool, fine and silvery. His types are almost always spirited. He is perhaps the most appealing Dutch painter of the era. He was a witty and likeable character and was on particularly friendly terms with a literary circle of influential wealthy and art-loving individuals in Haarlem of almost all of whom he made portraits.”
