Ciro Ferri
(Rome / Roma 1633 – 1689) The Virgin and Child with Saint Martina, oil on canvas, 75 x 67 cm, framed
The present painting will be published by forthcoming monograph of the artist by Maria Cristina Paoluzzi, who has fully confirmed the attribution. Ciro Ferri, a pupil of Pietro da Cortona, drew his inspirations for the present work from a painting by his master in the church of Santa Maria in Vallicella in Rome. The latter differs only slightly from our composition, which shows Ciro Ferri’s distinctive stylistic features. A monograph on Ciro Ferri is currently being prepared.
