Provenance: European private collection Literature: D. R. Marshall, Viviano and Niccolò Codazzi and the Baroque Architectual Fantasy, Milan 1993, p. 324, no. VC191, repr. Dr. David Marshall dates the present painting around 1660, when Codazzi increasingly devoted himself to ideal architectural settings. The attribution of the figures to Filippo Lauri was first suggested by Giulio Briganti.
