Two four-part folding screens, - Clocks, Asian Art, Metalwork, Faience, Folk Art, Sculpture

China, dated to year Qian Long Geng Xu (1790), late Qing Dynasty/Republic Period
lacquer panels with a variety of stone inlays (incl. jade, lapis lazuli, rose quartz) and mother-of-pearl, divided into three reserves, the upper reserve featuring figural motifs, the narrow central reserve depicting a pair of Foo dogs with a wheel, the lower reserve with vases and vessels, verso calligraphy, 1 panel with inscription stating that it was the gift of the statesman, Zhang Xiao in the year Qian Long Geng Xu to Emperor Qianlong, some reserves behind glass, wooden framing, each approx. 267 x 56 cm, the framing partly slightly damaged, (Hr)

according to consignee, acquired from previous owner in China in the 1940s.
