The attribution to Mihaly Zichy was confirmed by Dr. Gabor Bellak, Hungarian National Gallery after examining the original.
The present drawing is a design for an illustration in the memory album "Eperjes, Najykároly és Torocko'allegóriája", which was published in Budapest in 1887 in commemoration of the damages by fire in the three Hungarian towns. The final and carefully executed draft for the illustration (brush, grey and black ink, 48,7 x 32,3 cm) is kept in the Hungarian National Gallery (Inv. 1905-1886).
