Born in Denmark in 1884, Hans Hansen (1884-1940) worked as a goldsmith and opened his first shop in Kolding around 1906. In the 1920s Hansen produced his own line after his and H. F. Gross‘s designs. After the initial success of the cutlery production, his company also began to produce jewelry. The first of these pieces were designed around 1931 by himself. However, the production of jewelery started in 1932 with a collection designed by Hansen‘s son Karl Gustav Hansen. Together with his son Karl Gustav Hansen, born in 1914, he opened a workshop in Copenhagen. After the early death of his father, Karl Gustav Hansen took over the Hans Hansen silversmiths with only 25 years. His collection „Future“ became well known and other designers like Bent Gabrielsen Pedersen and Bent Knudsen designed for Hansen. In 1992, the company joined the Georg Jensen company
