Federal Republic of Germany 1968, manufactured by Reuter, Lemförde, folding construction made of white and yellow dyed polyurethane, backrest and seat cushions with red and black textile covering. Dimensions of each chair: height c. 106 cm (open) / c. 50 cm (closed), depth c. 87 cm, width c. 73 cm. (MHA)

The present garden chair turns into an egg-shaped object when the backrest is folded. This seating object, designed by Peter Ghyczy in 1968, was produced both in the Federal Republic of Germany and in the former GDR. In the latter, it was given the name “Senftenberger Ei” (Senftenberg egg), since the local producer was VEB Synthesewerk Schwarzheide near Senftenberg.
